Type II Diabetes

“Diabetes affects 25.8 million people of all ages, 7 million of which are undiagnosed.” (NIH)

Diabetes is one of the most widely diagnosed medical conditions in the United States today. It’s important to know your risk for diabetes, how to prevent it, symptoms to watch for, and ways to treat it.

Type II Diabetes has quadrupled since the 1980’s when “The War On Diabetes” was declared. Every year, new and “better” drugs are developed to regulate and control blood sugar, but where has that really gotten us? Is it really a matter of spending more money and making better drugs or are we looking in the wrong place to begin with?

This is where Functional Medicine comes in. Like many chronic diseases, diabetes is often significantly attributed to lifestyle.  What use is it to give someone a drug that artificially alters insulin production when their lifestyle is what’s CAUSING the blood sugar and metabolic disturbances in the first place? We must locate and remove the sources of interference that are driving the disease; only then can true healing ever take place.

It is imperative that this is done quickly and correctly. If you or someone you know is diabetic, then you may have read that it’s not the Diabetes that kills, but the major collateral damage that often occurs because of it. Diabetes dramatically increases your risk of: Heart Disease, Stroke, High Blood Pressure, Kidney Failure, Neuropathy and Blindness! On average Diabetes cuts 8 year off of a persons life! For this reason it’s vital to begin addressing Diabetes immediately.

So, what should you do?

Traditionally we are taught that pancreas dysfunction is the main problem with Diabetes. After years of scientific studies, we now know that there are many organs and systems in the body that deal with blood sugar regulation and proper metabolism. For this reason we utilize specific diagnostic testing to determine what your individual cause is; as not all diabetics are the same. Once the cause is determined, we can then utilize functional medicine protocols such as clinical nutrition intervention; like our Advanced Cellular Healing Nutrition Plan, and Cellular Detoxification to remove the cause and return the body to a state of health.
